Residential Roll off Dumpster Rentals

An introduction to our Residential Roll off dumpster Rentals

  • At West Coast Waste Removal & Dumpster Rentals, we offer full sized construction roll off dumpsters to residential folks for many different uses.
  • Some of these uses are yard cleaning, trash cleanup, remodeling projects, and many more projects.
  • A lot of folks will rent a dumpster without having the proper knowledge of the sizes or the debris types and how to get the best bang for their buck when it comes to the rental process.
  • Luckily we have multiple different sizes and types of dumpsters to choose from so we can handle mostly any residential dumpster rental needs.

Understanding our Residential Roll off Dumpster Rentals

  • What is a residential dumpster rental? you may ask..
  • The definition of a residential dumpster is a dumpster that can be delivered to your home for short or long term uses. They are commonly rented out for trash and home projects but have many uses. T
  • he purpose of a residential dumpster rental is to manage the waste in a higher volume than your regular street trash cans can hold.
  • Some use cases for  residential dumpster rentals would be if your trash is overflowing and you are trying to catch up with it, you decide to clean out the junk and stockpiles of debris in and around the property, if you are moving in or out of a residence, inheriting property that needs cleaned up, and many other reasons.

Types of Residential Roll off Dumpster Rentals

  • At West Coast Waste Removal & Dumpster Rentals, we believe in providing the best possible services that we can and we try to stock as many different types of dumpsters as possible and we also offer live load and hauling services.
  • We currently carry heavyweight construction dumpsters that can be used for concrete, shingles, dirt, and other heavy debris types.
  • We carry 20 yard dumpsters, as well as 40 yard dumpsters. The 20 yard dumpsters are a little easier to get into residential property locations and they are more commonly used.
  • In rare cases we do have larger jobs and customers will request the full sized 40 yard dumpsters and they can be very useful for higher volume projects. The only downside to the 40s is the larger size that makes them a bit more difficult to get into some tighter residential areas.
  • We carry 60 inch rail dumpsters which in most cases are no wider than 8 to 8.5 feet which allows them to fit perfectly into most driveways. The only driveways that can create challenges are driveways that are pitched with a steep grade or a twisted grade that makes the dumpster not sit fluch. in the cases of standard house trash this is not often a problem but with heavy weight projects the dumpsters tend to slide around on the rails making pickup alot more difficult.
  • Some ideal uses for these roll off dumpsters in driveways include interior home cleanouts, moving jobs, garage cleanouts, and home remodeling projects.
  • We also have dumpsters for special uses such as yard waste projects and heavy materials such as dirt and or concrete. These dumpsters are specific for heavy weight debris types and in most cases are live loaded while on the truck to eliminate the debris more efficiently seeing as how you will hit weight limits faster that your volume limits.

How to choose the right sized roll off dumpster

  • Estimating the volume needs of your specific project helps immensely when getting the right sized dumpster for you.
  • We have been hauling trash and debris for years so we are very good at estimating the amounts of volume per whichever specific debris type you are using the dumpster for.
  • Typically for just standard house trash in standard cleanouts scenarios the 20 yard is sufficient enough for these projects. Now if you are doing remodeling of most sorts the volumes of trash can be a bit higher than that and a 40  yard dumpster or a 20 yard dumpster with a reset halfway though the rental period are often sufficient.
  • Some other practical examples would be doing yard Cleanups. Most yard Cleanups require a couple 20 yarders due to volume or 1 with a reset and essentially 2 loads hauled.

Our residential Roll off dumpster rental process explained

  • How to go about renting a dumpster with us here at West Coast waste is very simple. There are a few options the best of which is to call in and ask to talk to Stephanie. She is the boss here and runs all the scheduling and project planning. After being a master dispatcher and in customer service and sales her whole life she is very easy to talk to and very knowledgeable on the dumpster rental and hauling processes. She will always guide you in the most economical and efficient direction possible.
  • Other ways you can book residential jobs is by sending in a message on the Google page or the website, as well as over email. Just remember to include location of the job, duration of time, debris types and any other helpful information and we can suggest the best possible options for you and get a quote sent over for you.
  • Once the quote is sent over if the terms sound good to you or your company doing the residential work just feel free to process the payment and the dumpster or hauling will be scheduled for delivery and or delivered immediately if it is a same day delivery request.
  • In some cases of heavy weight volume debris types we do bill for the dump tonnage fees after the debris have been dumped to get you a perfectly accurate dump fee. On lighter debris types such as household trash those dump fees are typically billed along with the initial invoice on a flat rate.

Some policies and regulations with residential dumpster rentals

  • Sometimes permits are required for doing work to your home even in residential applications. In these cases the homeowner or company doing the work typically gathers these necessary permits.
  • We don’t have many prohibited items but most of which would be pretty industry standard among most waste hauling and dumpster rental companies. Some prohibited items include paints, fuels, Explosives and flammable items, pressurized containers, and other hazardous or harmful chemicals and substances. We will accept tires but they need to be off of the rims and we have to charge for them separately per each tire as our landfills charge for them as well. There are some penalty payments if we get charged at the dump for items previously mentioned and we incur additional charges at the local landfills.

Safety and Preparation tips

  • Safety is our main priority when renting a roll off dumpster to residential jobs as well as commercial jobs. Most standard safety practices virtually everyone already knows but we like to leave a good reminder to be sure.
  • One of the easiest things to do on your end when  renting a residential roll off dumpster is being careful not to overload the dumpsters too high or too heavy. This can eliminate one more common safety hazards that we all see industry wide.
  • When overloading on weight there is always a higher risk involved when the driver is unaware of the load weight and attempts to load the dumpster onto the truck or trailer. The more common mistake people make is loading their dumpsters too high. We have all been there you want to get the most bang for your buck but if we just fill the dumpsters to the top and not overflowing that eliminates the risk of debris falling off the trailer while going down the road and could save lives as well as our environment.
  • Protecting your property is also another factor to think about. if the dumpster is rolling onto a flat surface such as concrete or asphalt these are the safest conditions for the dumpsters. When we try to place dumpsters on dirt rock gravel or other uneven or steep surfaces the risk of creating a safety hazards is increased. Loading and unloading on surfaces like this can make the truck, trailer, and or dumpster more vulnerable to shifting and causing harm.

Site Safety Guidelines

  • There are some guidelines that we suggest to make sure that your residential roll off dumpster rental process goes as smoothly and safely as possible.
  • Ensure that the dumpster is placed on a clean flat surface clear of debris to ensure a safe and efficient loading and unloading process.
  • In some cases we will have weight limits on the dumpsters. This is often times when the jobs could involve heavy or dense debris or material types. If you have questions regarding weight limits or best practices in that regard please feel free to reach out we can always email or text instructions or let you know the different debris types and their corresponding weights.
  • Always wear protective gear while working on construction sites and especially around dumpsters. These include high viz vests, steel toed work boots, and safety glasses. All of these will ensure that falling debris will cause less harm and that is what we are trying to help.
  • Another good practice when it comes to safety is to evenly distribute weighted items in the load. This makes picking up and transporting the load much safer.

Tips for Waste Management

  • Maximizing space is a good tip to make sure you can get the most out of your residential roll off dumpster rental. Some people are in a hurry or working under deadlines so they will throw as much trash in the dumpsters as possible as fast as possible and not worry about maximizing the whole dumpsters space.
  • We have seen it done many ways with some of the more effective ways being layering the debris types from the ground up and filling in the holes with loose debris such as loose trash and other smaller debris types.
  • We tell people to imagine they are playing a real life game of Tetris. Stacking the items in a dumpster is similar to stacking items when moving. You want as little room in between the items as possible. Some folks will  make sure that every box or cabinet or item is dismantled or separated into its smallest form to ensure the maximum efficiency. This also helps to Distribute the weight properly.
  • Another thing to consider when renting a residential roll off dumpster is to consider what debris types you have and if any of these types of debris can be recycled. Recycling is a great way to minimize the carbon footprint and be eco-friendly.
  • Some of the most commonly recycled items that we get calls for is scrap metal and concrete.  These items are reused and have entire industries that only work on those debris types. The more we can recycle the more we can help be the solution as opposed to the problem in our environment.
  • Another thing to keep in mind is to avoid causing environmental hazards. By taking hazardous waste to the proper hazardous waste facilities we avoid piling up toxic chemicals in our local landfills and that is what we want to do.
